Christmas Tree Care

CHRISTMAS TREE CARE GUIDE

Cut Trees

The  tree you have purchased from us is guaranteed to be fresh from the field.  It is important to look after it to keep it looking this good throughout the festive season.  When you get home, remove the netting to allow the branches to fall into their natural position and place in a bucket of water in a cool but protected environment.

A few hours before you are ready to bring it inside saw the bottom inch or so off the trunk. This opens up pores in the trunk and allows the tree to maximise water uptake.  Mount the tree in a water holding stand and place away from direct heat sources such as radiators, fires or warm lighting.  These will cause your tree to dry out resulting in needle drop or drooping of the branches.

Your tree needs to be watered daily – they are surprisingly thirsty. Do not allow it to dry out.

Pot Grown Trees

If you have purchased a pot grown tree it will require regular watering – it is important not to let it dry out.  After Christmas, we recommend it is either re-potted into a larger container or planted outside.  Acclimatise it to outdoor conditions first and use a good quality growing medium.
